Once the all the surface is already dry, apply primer on them. Primer gives additional protection the areas to be painted on. It can also smoothen the surface of some superficial faults marked by scraping and provide a firm foundation for the finishing coating.

Primer comes in various types depending on the type of paint you need to use. Latex paints use latex primer; solvent-based paints or also known as enamel requires a solvent-thinner primer, and metal paint needs metal primer.

But what is the difference between latex and enamel paint?

Latex paints are water based meaning it uses water to thin out its texture. They are commonly used for concretes. On the other hand, enamel paints are commonly used for woods. Enamel takes longer time dry compare to latex because they are solvent based.
